Dear Families,
Welcome to first grade! I am excited to have the opportunity to get to know and work with your students this school year. As we start the new school year, I wanted to reach out and share some information with each of you.
In my classroom I will implement a community culture of safety and inclusion. My teaching philosophy emphasizes a student centered classroom in which I will be a positive and energetic presence. The first step towards academic success is setting up a space where students feel safe and their voices are heard. This approach supports students in a positive learning environment and social experiences. Building and growing your child’s academic successes will be a priority in my classroom. Communication is the key to your child’s success, and as such, our classroom is always open to insure frequent and clear communication.
First grade is a meaningful and critical year where acquisition of new skills is accelerated. I am confident that your child’s love of learning will become stronger and that he or she will experience success. The first grade team works together to create a curriculum and experience that is beneficial for all of our students.
A quick note about myself, I was raised in Kingwood, Texas. After working as a Preschool Teacher, I received a post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy anything outdoorsy, especially rock climbing and scuba diving, as well as keeping up with my new puppy Jovi.
I am extremely excited to begin this school year with your child. I am proud to be a member of the Northridge Elementary community and look forward to the upcoming year!
Sincerely,
Emerald Fields
